Understand that climbing a tree fast isn't necessarily about making faster movements or taking bigger risks, instead its about planning and reducing the number of moves you make. First off you want to look at the tree and find the clearest path up. Look for branches in clusters that progress up one side of the tree rather than wrap around. You want to plan your route up the tree then stick to it to avoid getting stuck or having to climb back down to find another route up.

Once your have planned a path up the tree your next step is to start climbing and while you want to move quickly you want to maintain your balance at all times and never take a chance on a move your not sure about. Instead, keep your moves planned two to three steps ahead and avoid any setbacks.

One of the best moves for climbing a tree fast is a one footed pull up. Simply grip a limb above you with both hands and place your foot and a limb below it extending your knee up near your chest. Next pull your body up with your arms and extend your leg until you are in standing position with both feet on the limb. This is one way to make quick movements up the tree but be sure to test the stability of both limbs before preceding.
