How to Set Up a Fantasy Baseball League
-
1
Choose a platform. Several websites offer both free and fee-based leagues that you can set up. Sites include ESPN.com, Yahoo!, CBS SportsLine and MLB.com. While the presentation and options vary slightly from site to site, the basics of the game remain the same.
-
2
Choose your league format. Fantasy baseball can be played in two different formats, rotisserie and head-to-head. In rotisserie fantasy baseball, teams are ranked by points daily based on the performance of their players. In a head-to-head format, teams square off weekly against a single opponent and whomever has the most points at the end of the week wins. Standings are then based on win-loss records.
-
3
Choose your stats. Upon starting your league, you can choose which stats players will accumulate that teams in your league will benefit from. Stats can be chosen for pitchers and batters.
-
4
Invite friends. Once your league format and stats have been chosen its time to invite players. Most platforms have programs where you can e-mail league information to your friends. You can also make your league a "public" league, whereupon players from all over the world can join.
