1
Decide which free online fantasy baseball league service you are going to use. Several popular choices include Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball, ESPN Fantasy Baseball and CBS Fantasy Baseball. All of these services will allow you to create a league in a matter of minutes for all of your friends, family, and coworkers to join.

2
Configure the rules for the league. Each service will have different options and settings that you can edit in order to make your league suit your needs. You will want to determine point values for stats such as home runs, singles, doubles, triples, walks and strikeouts. If you would rather stick with what is already given to you, each of the services has default point values assigned to the stats they keep track of.

3
Determine the entry fee per contestant in your fantasy league. This will be your own private decision, and you will collect this money face-to-face. A good starting point is $20. This is a reasonable price that even the most seasoned fantasy baseball player would typically go for.
-
4
Calculate the prizes that winners in your league will receive at the end of the season. The total dollar amount that you take out for prize money will vary based on how many players you recruit for your league. Keep in mind that you are not pocketing each player's entire entry fee, rather you are profiting from the difference between their entry fee and the total amount you designate for prizes. For example, if you have 20 players who each pay their entry fee of $20, you have a $400 pot. Designate 50 percent for the winner, 20 percent for second place and 10 percent for third. This leaves you with $80 in profit. If the players in the league ask, make sure to inform them that you are setting some money aside to compensate you for the time it takes to manage the league.
-
5
Monitor the league service by performing the duties of a league host throughout the season. These responsibilities typically include approving point value adjustments that players request for certain stats, approving proposed trades between two players to ensure league integrity and responding to general inquiries on the status of the league. Be attentive to your fantasy baseball league and its players. This should not require a great amount of your time.
-
6
Distribute the winnings to the first, second and third place finishers at the end of the season. The system will automatically report real-time standings throughout the season, and will give a final report of the standings when the league ends.
