1
Join a public league or create your own private league for you and your friends. Free leagues like the ones at sports.yahoo.com are great for beginners. Websites such as mlb.com and CBSsportsline.com allow you to create your own league and help you manage the rules and scoring for a fee.
-
2
Research players and teams before the beginning of the season to learn which ones are forecasted to be the best. There are many resources including websites and magazines that give detailed statistics and information on players and teams.
-
3
Draft your fantasy team before the season starts. Each league operates according to specific guidelines and has their own set of rules. Choose players for each position as well as backups from any MLB team. Obviously, you will want to choose the best players available, though there will be chances for trades and pick-ups.
-
4
Choose your starting lineup each week based on what team in your league you're playing against. Consider real-life opponents your players are facing each week to determine who should start. Most leagues have a deadline for when this must be completed each week.
-
5
Score points each week based on the predetermined scoring system of your league. Each week you will play against one other person on your league; the player who scores the most points wins that game. At the end of the league season the top scoring league team wins.
