Everyone's favorite team along the bayou, the 2009 NFL Champion New Orleans Saints will kick off their preseason in early September 2011. Beginning in 2002, the NFL instituted a formula guaranteeing that all league teams will play each other on a regular, rotating basis.
In 2011 the New Orleans Saints are scheduled to compete against the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, New York Giants, Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts at the Louisiana Superdome.
Tulane Green Wave

Since 1893, New Orleans has been cheering for the Tulane Green Wave during its collegiate competitions. In 1975 the newly erected Superdome became the Tulane football team's new home. The first-class facilities for both players and fans have cemented this long-standing relationship.
In the upcoming 2011 season, the Tulane Green Wave are scheduled to appear at the Superdome for six home games. They will face collegiate teams from Southeastern Louisiana, Tulsa, Syracuse, UTEP, Memphis and Houston.
State Farm Bayou Classic

In 1974, two southern Louisiana football teams, Grambling State University and Southern University, stood facing off at Tulane Stadium. Since that first battle, this rivalry has blossomed into a much-anticipated Thanksgiving weekend football game. The "Granddaddy" of Louisiana college football, the State Farm Bayou Classic celebrates every aspect of Southern collegiate spirit: sportsmanship, marching bands, academic achievement, competition and tradition. The next game, in 2011, will be held on November 26th inside the Louisiana Superdome.

Every high school football player's dream in the state of Louisiana is walking off the turf after 60 minutes of play beneath the Superdome roof with the state football championship trophy. The 2011 10-week season kicks off for all five state divisions in early September. Three weeks of playoffs in November produces the top two teams in each division. The battle for the championship trophy is scheduled for the second weekend in December in 2011.
The R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl

Annually since 2001, the Sun Belt Champion has faced off against a Conference USA opponent. This annual bowl game has seen college teams from Arkansas State, Colorado State University, Memphis, North Texas, and Troy battle beneath the Superdome. In December 2011, the R+L New Orleans Bowl game will celebrate its 10th year of competition.
All State Sugar Bowl

Packed with festivities, the 78th Annual Allstate Sugar Bowl will host the NCAA BCS National Bowl Championship game over the second weekend in January 2012. The game will be played in the Superdome.
NCAA Final Four

The 73rd NCAA Final Four will make its fifth appearance at the Louisiana Superdome between March 31st and April 2nd, 2012. The city of New Orleans will host the "Big Dance," filling the seats with collegiate basketball fans from around the country come to watch and cheer the climax of "March Madness."
