How Many Fans Can the New England Foxboro Stadium Seat?

Foxboro Stadium was a football stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts that served as the home of the New England Patriots until it was demolished in 2002 and replaced by Gillette Stadium. Foxboro Stadium had a large capacity that allowed it to host NFL football games and the FIFA World Cup in 1994.
  1. Capacity

    • Foxboro Stadium could seat a total of 60,292 fans for New England Patriots games and other sporting events. Although this is a large seating capacity by most standards, it is relatively small by NFL standards.

    Seating Problems

    • Because the capacity of 60,292 was small by NFL standards and because Foxboro Stadium had no luxury seats, the stadium had difficulty maintaining high revenues. Rather than expand the stadium, the owners razed the building and built Gillette Stadium on the same spot.

    Gillette Stadium

    • Gillette Stadium replaced Foxboro Stadium in 2002, increasing capacity to 68,756 seats including 6,600 clubhouse seats and 2,756 luxury suite seats. There are 86 luxury suites in the new stadium and two super suites. The super suites each have a capacity of 70 seats.
