Softball Batting Helmet Airbrush Ideas
-
Individuals
-
Individualize a softball batting helmet with an airbrushed player name. Paint the helmet with a team color as a base. Airbrush the player's name across the front or the back in the secondary team color. Use lettering that represents the team. Use large bubble letters for a girl's team or airbrush scripted letters for a mixed team. For an all male team, consider box letters. If parents are not comfortable with their child's name presented on the helmet, use nicknames. Coaches can assign softball related nicknames or let the players select their own. Consider placing the player's real name on the front and nickname on the back, with parental approval. Fill in the area on the helmet around the name with designs resembling the stitching on the softball.
Team Logos and Sponsors
-
Each softball team has a team name, logo and, typically, a sponsor. Place the team's logo on the front of the helmet and the sponsor's logo on the back. Airbrush the team name in script or small block along the sides of the helmet. Fill in the rest of the helmet with designs related to the team name or sponsor. For example, for a team sponsored by an electrical company, airbrush lightning bolts around the logos or a team sponsored by an hardware store uses pictures of tools. For a team named the Tigers, airbrush tiger stripes around the illustrations or a team called the Hawks uses feathers for decoration.
One Big Softball
-
One of the factors that distinguishes softball from its cousin baseball is the ball itself. The larger size is a distinctive factor in the game. Turn the team's batting helmets into large softballs with a few airbrushing strokes. Start with all white helmets. Paint curved lines of small x's, representing the stitching on the ball, around the sides and over the top. Airbrush the individual player's name in small script letters to mimic as a signature on the ball. The airbrush artist might add smudges of dark brown or black to represent dirt or smudges.
