Design a Nike Basketball Jersey
-
1
Draw the front and back outline of a jersey on a drawing pad with a pencil. Photocopy these outlines several times and use them as templates for experimentation. Take a look at some classic Nike basketball jerseys in an array of different styles. The new style is armless and tight fitting while older styles were loose and baggy with short sleeves.

2
Experiment with design concepts using pencils and markers. Most Nike basketball jerseys are fairly simple, using two or three colors to represent a team. Collars are cut in a slight v-neck style, although without any material standing up above the shoulder line. The body of the jersey is usually a solid, bold color with all lettering or logos in a contrasting color. Trim, such as the collar and sleeve lines, is also usually in a contrasting color.

3
Add the famous Nike swoosh to your design anywhere and as many times as you like. On many basketball jerseys it appears over the left breast and is usually a fairly inconspicuous part of the jersey. It is important, however, to get the swoosh shape just right. If need be, create a cardboard stencil of the swoosh.
-
4
Make stencils by tracing the design or lettering you want on your jersey onto a piece of paper. Cut out this tracing and attach it to a piece of sturdy cardboard. Cut out the tracing on the cardboard and then use the open space in the cardboard as your stencil.
-
5
Make your jersey design a reality by lightly drawing your designs onto a generic white basketball jersey. Color the jersey with washable cloth markers and use stencils for the lettering, number, and any team logos.
