Displaying a Football Jersey

If you're a passionate football fan, you may wear football jerseys of your favorite teams and players with considerable frequency. If you have a special jersey, such as one that was used in an official game or was signed, hanging it in a display case will both protect it and help make it a decoration for your home. Sports memorabilia and framing stores sell a variety of jersey display cases. Once you buy one, you can proudly display your jersey for everyone to see.

Decide which side of your football jersey you will display in the case. Typically, football jerseys are displayed with the rear facing outward, because they often show the player's name. If your jersey is signed, the position of the autograph will dictate how you display the jersey. Players often sign on the rear number of the jersey, below their name.

Hang the jersey in the display case in the manner dictated by the case's construction. Some jersey cases contain a hanger-like device on which you hang the jersey. In others, you place the case horizontally, set the jersey on the backing and hold it in place with small, powerful magnets. However you affix the jersey, make sure it hangs squarely.

Hang the display case on a wall in a prominent location in your home. If you have a room containing sports memorabilia in which you watch football, hanging the jersey in this location is ideal.

Visit an engraving shop and have a brass plaque engraved to mount to the jersey case. If you have framed your child's high school jersey as a graduation present, get the plaque to read something such as, "James Smith - Central High School - Linebacker - # 55 - 2008-2011." Pull off the adhesive backing on the plaque and place it in the bottom center of the case's panel of glass.
