1
Lay one color of fabric down on one side of a piece of thick poster-board. Use one color to cover the entire side and staple the edges around the back of the poster-board. The fabric used should be team colors.
-
2
Cut a smaller rectangular shaped piece of a second color of fabric and place it in the middle of the first piece of fabric on the poster-board creating a border.
-
3
Create lettering for the team name using the border color of fabric or a third variety. Outline the size of letters you'd like with a fabric pencil and some stencils. Cut each letter out and glue it to the center piece of the poster-board. Alternately, you could use markers to write on center piece rather than cutting out letters.
-
4
Make a basic outline of the team emblem or mascot on a piece of fabric. Cut the figure out and add details with other cut-outs or a marker. Glue the character onto the sign somewhere near the name.
-
5
For a one-sided sign simply fasten the poster-board to a wooden stake using the stapler. Staple through the top and the bottom of the poster-board.
-
6
Repeat steps 1-5 on a second poster-board to create a two-sided sign. Staple the two separate pieces of poster-board together. Bring together the edges and staple through both at each corner. Pull the stake through the center of the two poster-boards and fasten it to the board with several staples.
-
7
Add staples or glue where necessary for sturdiness. Let the entire sign dry (if you have used any glue) for 24 hours. Take the stake and place if firmly in the ground somewhere in your yard.
