How to Display Sports Jerseys

Sport memorabilia is a great way to both show your support for your favorite teams as well as decorate a room. A sports jersey can be framed and hung on a wall not only as a means of decoration, but also as a means of preserving the jersey itself. You can always take a jersey in to have it framed by professionals, but you can also frame your jersey yourself. Here are some tips on how to properly display a sports jersey.

  • 6 T-pins
  • 24x36" Poster frame
  • Pliers

  • Hammer

  1. Displaying Sports Jerseys

      Display your sports jersey in a poster frame. To start, lay down the poster frame, with the glass facing down. Open up the back of the poster frame. Pull off the back poster board and set it aside.

      Lay the jersey out flat with the side you want displayed facing down. Lay the poster board on top of the jersey with a little extra jersey on the top and the bottom. The sleeves should be showing at the sides of the board.

      Tuck the sleeves of the sports jersey over the poster board. Then, pin them to the back of the poster board with 1 T-pin for each sleeve. Pin the sports jersey to the back poster board with the other 4 t-pins. Fold the top of the jersey over the board and use a T-pin on each end to secure it to the back of the board. Repeat this process to secure the bottom of the jersey.

      Pick up poster with the pinned sports jersey on it and place it back into the picture frame with the jersey facing the glass and the pinned side facing you. Secure the poster board back into place. Turn the frame over and check to make sure the jersey looks okay. If adjustments need to be made then free the poster board and gently pull the jersey where needed to remove any wrinkles or to straighten it then secure the board once again.

      Mount the sports jersey picture frame onto your wall like you would any picture frame. Mark on the wall where you want the center of the frame to go. Hammer a nail into the wall and hang the frame on the nail, using a level to make sure it is straight.
