Instructions

    • 1

Measure the length and width of the jersey after establishing whether it will be folded, or displayed without any pieces tucked under. Also, take into account whether the gloves will be placed in the frame on top of the jersey, or if you want to display them separately, in one corner of the frame, as you measure.

    • 2

Pick out a frame for the jersey and gloves, taking into consideration necessary size, the colors of the jersey and the room in which it will be hung. Framing sports memorabilia is not like framing a flat picture. The frame should be at least 3 to 4 inches deep. Baseball batting gloves, football gloves and even soccer and hockey goalie gloves will fit inside an appropriately-sized frame. Items such as a first baseman's mitt or catcher's mitt are better suited to a rectangular display case.

    • 3

Place the jersey on top of the mat board. Sew the jersey to the mat board using the upholstery thread. Tie the ends of the thread when you have finished attaching the jersey.

    • 4

Sew the gloves to the jersey, or to the mat board, as desired using the upholstery thread. Tie the ends of the thread when you are finished.

    • 5

Peel away one side of the plexiglass protective paper. Attach this to the back of the mat board that the jersey and gloves are mounted on. This process protects the items from dust, and temperature and humidity changes.

    • 6

Assemble the frame. Make sure the core backing board with the plexiglass supports the jersey and gloves inside the frame. Attach the top piece of plexiglass that serves as the front of the frame. Secure all sides of the frame.

    • 7

Tighten the corner brackets of the frame with a screwdriver.

    • 8

Attach the frame hanging hardware following the manufacturer's directions.
