How to Get Temporary Latrine Facilities

Once the butt of many jokes, the portable toilet-rental business is now accepted and expected as obligatory at public events where the number of attendees is expected to overwhelm existing bathroom facilities, or those facilities are too distant to use. Not only a matter of convenience, the business is a necessary health measure, and use of them is even supervised by the Environmental Protection Agency.

Instructions

    • 1

Call your local health department to determine any regulations or restrictions on the use of porta-potties in your area.

    • 2

Confirm with any event co-directors your plans, the number of portable units anticipated and the best locations for the temporary facilities.

    • 3

Find area rental dealers by using the National Portable Toilet Rental Directory (see Resources).

    • 4

Call your chosen dealer with your order: the number of units required, the dates needed and the approximate site they will be placed. Arrange to have a worker meet them at delivery to confirm correct placement.
