How to Adjust Sensitivity on the Tru Ball Cyclone SS Release

Many archers, particularly bow hunters, use archery releases to shoot arrows, rather than using their fingers. The Tru Ball Cyclone SS archery release has a setscrew that lets the shooter adjust the amount of trigger pull before the caliper releases the arrow. Adjusting the Tru Ball Cyclone SS takes just a few minutes and only requires basic archery tools.

Instructions

  1. Lightening Trigger Pull

    • 1

Squeeze the trigger and clamp the Cyclone's jaws around the bowstring.

    • 2

Hold the bowstring in your non-shooting hand and grasp the release with your shooting hand. Do not draw the bow; just hold the bowstring.

    • 3

Pull on the release with your shooting hand while holding the bowstring with your non-shooting hand. You should be unable to break the jaws' grip on the bowstring without pulling the trigger.

    • 4

Loosen the sensitivity setscrew under the trigger with the hex wrench one-quarter turn. Try to make the jaws release without pulling the trigger.

    • 5

Repeat the process, loosening the sensitivity setscrew one-quarter turn at a time until the jaws release without touching the trigger while you pull against the bowstring.

    • 6

Put an arrow on the bowstring and aim at a target on a shooting range with a good backstop. Now, back the setscrew out 1/16-turn at a time after you reach the point where the jaws release without touching the trigger.

    • 7

Continue loosening 1/16-turn at a time until the jaws release while holding the bow at full draw at a draw weight of 50 pounds or more.

    • 8

Tighten the setscrew one-quarter turn. This is the lightest recommended trigger setting.

    Stiffening Trigger Pull

    • 9

Repeat the preparatory techniques of clamping the release on the bowstring from Section 1.

    • 10

Shoot an arrow at a target, using the Cyclone SS to release the arrow.

    • 11

Tighten the setscrew one-eighth turn at a time until you reach your desired trigger pull.
