South Florida Archery Clubs

Archery is a sport that requires participants to shoot a target with the use of a bow and arrow. The sport began as a military skill and was used frequently before the invention of gunpowder. A revived interest for the sport began during 1879 and is enjoyed by many. In fact, the southern region of Florida has several archery clubs where members get together to compete and discuss their favorite sport.

  1. Everglades Archers

    • The Everglades Archers is a non-profit club that is located in Homestead, Florida. The club is dedicated to promoting archery and sets forth to educate members on ways to enjoy the sport in a safe manner. The club is a member of the National Field Archery Association and the Junior Olympic Archery Development. The organization hosts a variety of events each year that include state, field and 3D tournaments. The group gathers every week in organized shoots for anyone to participate in. Membership is obtained during the annual club picnic in July of each year and prices are available at that time. Family membership covers everyone in the family and kids under the age of 18.

    Fort Lauderdale Archers

    • The Fort Lauderdale Archers began in the year 1959 when the club was known as the South Bowhunters and was headed up by Joe Patterson. During 1985 the club changed leadership to David Brandfass who still runs the organization. The club is now known as the Fort Lauderdale Archers and it is located at Dixie Well Field. New members or those who have not participated in any parties have to pay $252 for an annual membership, participating members that have worked at least five parties incur a cost of $192 per year and student membership costs $72. Members of the club have the chance to participate in archery parties and several events throughout the year.

    Lee County Archers

    • Lee County Archers is a tax exempt club that has a primary objective of maintaining membership with the NFAA and FAA. The club conducts competitions and offers membership to any archer that requests one. Members gather together and participate in a social forum while practicing safety and precaution. The organization has a practice and shooting field, hunting events and 3D shooting indoors. Applicants for membership must submit a membership application to the board of directors who will set a price at time of acceptance.
