Archery Clubs in North Carolina

Archers and bow hunters in North Carolina practice their skills at local archery clubs, and the North Carolina Field Archery Association and the Central Carolina Archery Association work with clubs to host archery tournaments. Bow hunters spend time at archery clubs in preparation for seasonal hunts organized by the North Carolina Bowhunters Association. This archery club also hosts Thursday night leagues every season that culminate in quarterly awards shows. The Great 8 Shoot Championship takes place over eight weeks each summer. This eight-shoot tournament awards cash prizes to the best competitors in each class. The Archery Barn sells T-shirts, arrows and other archery products through its pro shop.

    Big Oak Archery Club

    • Big Oak Archery Club runs 18 different classes throughout the year ranging from youth classes to men's open courses. The club hosts bimonthly team and individual tournaments as part of the Southern Archery Circuit. Archers completing the club's eight-hour advanced course receive one-on-one instruction, video tape analysis of their stances and training booklets. Big Oak Archery Club works with the International Bowhunter Education Program to host 10-hour archery safety courses. Archers can purchase arrow and bow decals with the club logo through the pro shop.

    Mill Creek Bowhunters

    • Mill Creek Bowhunters features a 100-acre outdoor range used for open shoots, tournaments and member events. This target range features 20 3D targets spread throughout grassy and forested patches. This archery club schedules monthly courses on bow maintenance and tuning for inexperienced archers. Mill Creek Bowhunters uses its outdoor range for tournaments organized by the Archery Shooters Association and the Central Carolina Archery Association. Club organizers host simulated hunts for members within a month of the opening of bow hunting season.

    Durham County Wildlife Club

    • Durham County Wildlife Club maintains multiple spaces to accommodate archers and bow hunters. The 20-acre archery range contains myriad 3D animals targets and Olympic targets for archers preparing for competitions. Archers are able to walk through this range in groups to practice shooting on the move. The club also offers a secluded practice range where bow hunters can shoot arrows from tree stands. These archery ranges are used frequently by local Boy Scout troops as well as outdoor organizations. Durham County Wildlife Club organizes monthly archery tournaments available to all members.
