How to Measure Baseball Hat Sizes

There are two main types of baseball hats, adjustable and fitted. While adjustable hats fit most people and don't require size measurements, people purchasing fitted baseball hats need to measure their head before purchasing the cap in order to ensure a properly-fitting hat. Use the size chart provided by the hat manufacturer as they vary slightly in sizing based on the company producing the cap.

Instructions

    • 1

Wrap your head with the soft measuring tape. Starting about 1/2 inch above your eyebrows, wrap the measuring tape completely around your head. Keep the tape above the top of each ear and flat against your head.

    • 2

Remove the measuring tape from your head and read the measurement to the nearest 1/8 inch.

    • 3

Compare the measurement to the manufacturer sizing chart. The chart will have both the total number of inches, representing the circumference of your head, and a corresponding hat size. For example, a measurement of 20 1/2 inches corresponds to a 6 1/2 hat size, 22 inches to a 7 hat size and 23 1/8 inches to a 7 3/8 hat size. Those hat sizes are considered small, medium and large respectively. When ordering, provide the store with your hat size and not your measurement .
