How to Put on Wheelies
Wheelies represent one of the most popular tricks on a bicycle or motorcycle. The steps for performing the wheelie remain the same whether you use a motorized or non-motorized vehicle. Prepare to receive a few cuts, scrapes and bruises while practicing this technique. Wheelies take a bit of time to learn. Some natural athletes can readily perform wheelies without falling; however, the norm involves some trial by fire.

1
Speed up on your bike. If a motorized bike, use the accelerator. If non-motorized, peddle fast. You need to be going at speed in order to pull a wheelie. Many motorized bike riders say you need to go at least 20 miles per hour to perform a wheelie.

2
Grip the handlebars. Make sure to grasp the bars with an even distribution of strength. An uneven distribution can lead to a fall.
-
3
Pull back on the handlebars. Lean back. You will rise up onto your back wheel and continue to move forward. Don't lean back too far, as this can lead to a painful fall. At first, only rise up a little bit. As you build comfort, you can wheelie to a higher height for the front wheel.
