Bicycle Carrier Installation

A bicycle carrier mounts to the trunk or back of the vehicle. The rack has two to four bicycle cradles designed to hold and transport the bicycles off the back of the car. Installation for these carriers follow a basic formula. Follow this formula to mount the carrier to the car and get on the road with the bikes strapped to the car.

Instructions

    • 1

Set the carrier next to the trunk or back of the vehicle. Open the carriers sides. Pull the sides apart so the rack portion of the carrier is fully opened and extended.

    • 2

Extend the four straps and hooks away from the rack and make sure there are no knots or snags in the straps. Put the carrier on the back of the car so the main rubber bars of the rack rest on the car's bumper.

    • 3

Push the rack frame down so the top portion rests snug on the trunk. Let the rubber gaskets touch the trunk. Tighten and secure the rack in this position.

    • 4

Pull one of the upper carrier straps and place the hard rubber hook under the lip of the trunk at the hinge. Pull the second strap up and place the hook into the trunk hinge area on the opposite side of the first hook and strap.

    • 5

Pull the straps from beneath the carrier and thread the hooks under the bumper. Tighten the strap with the hook in place to secure it to the car's bumper. Pull the second strap under the rack and place the strap hook under the bumper. Tighten the strap.

    • 6

Go back to the trunk straps and tighten both straps to secure the carrier solidly onto the car.
