How to Tie Wrist Wraps

Wrist wraps are worn underneath boxing gloves to add additional support to the wrist, fingers and knuckles. There are a wide variety of wraps available at any sporting good stores or boxing gym. One of the things to keep in mind when tying wraps is that you want them tight enough to support your hands and wrists but not so tight that you lose blood circulation. To make sure the wraps are tied well, make sure you can still move your fingers and hands when the wraps are snugly on.

Open your fingers so they are spread out. Place the thumb hoop around your thumb.

Start by wrapping your wrist and thumb: wrap around your wrist three times, around your thumb two times, then wrap your wrist once more, your thumb once more, and then one more wrap around the wrist. The thumb/wrist are now properly wrapped. Clench your hand into a fist to make sure the wrap is not too tight.

Next, wrap your knuckles: wrap around all four fingers three times, then wrap the wrist again. Then thread the wrap between your middle and ring finger, pull it around the thumb and then back up to the fingers. Wrap around all four fingers again.

Finish the wrap: bring the wrap down along the back of the hand and around the wrist and secure the end of the Velcro strap to the wrap. Put your boxing gloves on over the wrist wraps.
