Universities in Florida That Have Softball Teams

Many of Florida's research universities have intercollegiate softball teams that compete in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Conference (NCAA), as well as other conferences including the Southeastern Conference (SEC), the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and the Big East Conference. Softball teams at Florida's universities draw players from all over the state and the country.

    • The University of Florida (UF) is a public research university that was founded in 1853 in Gainesville, Florida. As of 2009, the school had about 50,000 students. The Florida Gators participate in NCAA Division I athletics and the Southeastern Conference. The University of Florida established its women's softball team in 1995. As of 2009, the team's coaches included Tim Walton, Jennifer Rocha and Jenny Gladding. The team plays its home games at the Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. In 2010, the University of Florida tied for 47th in U.S. News & World Report's ranking of national universities.

    Florida State University

    • Florida State University (FSU) is a public research university that was founded in 1851. As of 2009, the school had about 40,000 students. The FSU Seminoles compete in NCAA Division I athletics as well as the Atlantic Coast Conference. Coaches Lonni Alameda, Sara Pickering and Angel Santiago lead the FSU softball team. The team plays its home games at the JoAnne Graf Field. Florida State University tied for 102nd in U.S. News & World Report's 2010 ranking of national universities.

    University of South Florida

    • The University of South Florida is a public research university that was founded in 1956 in Tampa, Florida. As of 2009, the school had about 35,000 undergraduates. The USF Bulls compete in NCAA Division I athletics and the Big East Conference. Coaches Ken Eriksen, Stacey Heintz and Monica Triner lead the USF softball team, a team that draws players from all over the country.

    • The University of Central Florida is a public research university that was founded in 1963 in Orlando, Florida. As of 2009, the school had about 53,000 students. The UCF Knights compete in NCAA Division I athletics and Conference USA. As of 2009, the UCF softball coaches included Renee Luers-Gillispie, Stephanie Best and Nicole Trimboli.
