How to Find a Figure Skating Coach
Instructions

1
Contact your local figure skating club for a list of names and numbers of figure skating coaches. Go to the US Figure Skating Organization's website and click on "clubs." Insert your zip code and a list of the closest clubs will come up. Contact the club and ask for their list of coaches. This is the best place to start.
-
2
Go to an ice skating camp. Meet the coaches and then approach one after class. The people who teach learn to skate programs and camps almost always give private lessons. These lessons will range in price depending on the skill level of the instructor.
-
3
Ask for coach names around the ice rink after figure skating lessons. Get advice from other skaters and parents on which coaches they like and why.
-
4
Find coaches that skate at your rink. There may be an additional rink fee if you skate at another rink where the coach is not on "home" turf.
-
5
Find out how much the coach charges. Coaches increase in price with experience. An advanced skater is sometimes a less expensive alternative. Teen instructors who are still learning are the least expensive.
