How to Have Solid Footing in Football

Holding a proper stance while playing football affords the player several advantages, one of which is solid footing. Solid footing enables a player to quickly lunge off the line when the ball is snapped, enabling him to beat his opponent on the first step of the play. This can drastically increase the chance that the entire play is successful. Holding a solid stance is one of the fundamentals basics of the game of football.

      Stand with your feet at shoulder length apart, then position your feet so that the toe of your right foot points at the arch of your left foot.

      Bend your back and knees, keeping your posterior lower then your shoulders, and rest your elbows on your knees.

      Reach your right hand forward and rest it on the ground underneath your nose.

      Keep your eyes up, looking towards the rest of the field.
