1
Wrap a rubber jar opener around the arrow shaft. Grasp the arrow shaft, over the jar opener, in your hand about 2 inches from the nock.
-
2
Squeeze the nock with pliers, working the pliers around the circumference of the base of the nock, until the nock shatters. Remove the broken pieces of the nock from the nipple of the arrow shaft with the pliers.
-
3
Clean the nipple at the end of the shaft with sandpaper. Sand away any small pieces of plastic and all glue residues.
-
4
Fill the hollow end of the new arrow nock with an epoxy rated to bond plastic to the material of your arrow shaft, such as carbon or aluminum.
-
5
Place the nock over the nipple on the arrow shaft. Align the index mark on the new nock with the arrow's index fletching. The index fletching is the odd single vane oriented away from the other two vanes that run approximately parallel to each other.
-
6
Push the nock firmly in place on the arrow. Wipe the excess epoxy from the arrow and nock with the cloth. Allow the epoxy to dry according to the manufacturer's specifications.
