How to Install a Football Goal Post

American football is a firm family favorite pastime. While building your own goal post may sound daunting, it is a lot easier than it sounds and it can be an excellent way of bringing a very popular all-American sport into your back yard. Kicking the ball over these posts is one of the most important parts of the game and whether you're a child or an adult, this is the perfect addition for an at-home football field.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure and mark two 10-foot pipes at the 4-foot mark. Also measure and mark two 10-foot pipes at the 2-foot mark.

    • 2

Cut the pipes using a saw and then gently sand down the edges. This will smooth the edges. You should have two 10-foot, 8-foot, 6-foot, 4-foot and 2-foot pipes each.

    • 3

Create a sturdy base by connecting a 2-foot pipe with an 8-foot pipe using a tee connector. This will be the right side of the base. Repeat the same process to create the other side.

    • 4

Fit elbow connectors on each end of the 8-foot pipes and attach a 10-foot pipe to join both sides together. The base is now created.

    • 5

Attach a 4-foot pipe on each side of the tee connector that connected the 2-foot and 8-foot pipes. Add a tee connector to the 4-foot pipes and attach a 6-foot pipe on top of the 4-foot pipes. This creates the uprights.

    • 6

Join the remaining tee connectors in the middle of the uprights with a 10-foot pipe.
