Little League Football Homecoming Gifts

A homecoming football game is a significant event on any team's season schedule. While youth football team homecoming games may not have the same aura as those at the high school and college level, they're just as important to the young players. To celebrate a player's homecoming game, there are a variety of football-themed gifts that parents can consider.
  1. Personalized Equipment

    • Every young football player loves getting new equipment, and for homecoming, you can get him new equipment that is personalized. Consider such items as a towel, wristbands or gloves. These items are relatively inexpensive to purchase. Towels and wristbands each cost under $20 and gloves cost less than $50. Take these items to a custom embroidery shop and have the player's uniform number stitched onto them. He's sure to be impressed with personalized equipment just like the pros use.

    Team Souvenirs

    • If your young player is in his last year of eligibility with his youth team, it may be the last time he plays with some of his teammates. Many sports stores sell customizable team footballs that feature one or more white panels. Take one of these balls to a custom printing shop and have the team's name, logo, homecoming date and the youth's name printed on the ball. The white panel also allows players to sign their names in permanent marker, making for a gift with plenty of sentimental value.

    Team Jacket

    • Team jackets are popular gifts at high school and college homecoming games, but they can be important for a youth football player, too. Often, a team's organization places a mass order for team jackets for the players. If you're a parent, you may be the one paying for the jacket anyway, but presenting it to your young football player as a gift will impress him. If possible, place the jacket order without his knowing, and he'll be even more excited. At the youth level, team jackets are typically windbreaker-style, and feature the team's name and logo as well as the player's last name, position and uniform number.

    Football Tickets

    • If your young football player is a die-hard fan of the game, get him a pair of tickets to a college or pro football game close to your city. This gift is sure to surprise and excite him, especially if this would be his first experience at a high-level game. If the player has a best friend who's also on the team, talk to that friend's parents and see if they'll consider getting tickets for their son, too. The football game could be a long-remembered father-and-son trip.
