1
Put on your football athletic shirt the same way you would put on a regular shirt. The football shirt, which is made out of a breathable fabric, can help keep you cool and dry while playing football.
-
2
Put on your rib-padded vest the same way you would put on a tuxedo vest or a swimming life vest. Place the padding over your shoulders so that the straps and velcro touch your abdomen. Secure the height of the padded vest by pulling the straps near the ribs, and then use the velcro to secure the vest to your body.
-
3
Put on your knee-high socks the same way you would put on regular socks.
-
4
Put on your athletic supporter on the same way you would put on underwear. Make sure that the loose straps of the supporter are on your behind.
-
5
Place the cup into the front side of your athletic supporter. The cup will protect your groin from injury during practice or a real game.
-
6
Put your football girdle on after your athletic supporter is pulled up and secure. The girdle goes on like a pair of pants and has the same cool and dry function that the football athletic shirt has. Place your hip and tailbone pads inside of the girdle to add extra protection. The tailbone pad protects your behind, while the hip pads protect your waist.
-
7
Put on your football pants the same way you would put on regular sweatpants or jeans. Football pants will have strings that you must tie in a bow. Tying the strings will help the pants stay put and not fall during games or practice, but tie them after the pads are secure.
-
8
Stuff the two knee and two thigh pads into the pants. Position the knee pads on top of your knees and wrap the thigh pads around the outer area of your thighs.
-
9
Put on your cleats. Make sure to double knot the shoelaces so that they will not come loose when you are practicing or in a game. Wear your cleats a few days before your first day of football to help break them in. Wearing new cleats to practice or a game might cause foot blisters.
-
10
Put your head through the middle of the shoulder pads, so that each pad will rest on a shoulder. Buckle the shoulder pads and pull the cord to tighten or loosen the pads.
-
11
Put the helmet on your head and turn the opening of the helmet toward your face. Hook the chin strap, which is connected to the helmet, into the hole on the left side of the helmet.
-
12
Insert and bite down on your mouth guard to protect your teeth from tackles and injuries.
