How to Put on Thigh Pads for Football
The physical contact in football makes wearing protective equipment an important method of preventing injury. If a player's thigh is forcefully hit by another player's helmet, shoulder or knee, thigh injuries such as bruising or hematoma can occur. This can result in immediate severe pain, stiffness, swelling and decreased range-of-motion in the leg. Several minutes after impact, the player may be unable to flex the knee of the injured leg to a 90-degree angle due to the severity of pain in the thigh. Wearing thigh pads can help prevent injuries.

How to Wear Thigh Pads
-
1
Put on the football pants. Do not lace them or fasten the belt, if there is one.
-
2
Place one of the thigh pads in the upper interior pocket in the front of the pants. Make sure the curved edges of the pads point toward your body so that the pad can conform to the shape of your thigh. Repeat the process with the second thigh pad in the other upper front interior pocket.
-
3
Lace the pants to close them and, if there is belt, fasten it closed. Make sure the pants fit snugly enough to keep the thigh pads in place.
