How to Change Weights on TaylorMade Golf Clubs

Having your golf clubs customized to your swing for maximum effectiveness is typically something reserved for the more serious golfer. However, over the past few years, golf clubs with adjustable weights have become more and more popular with numerous golfers of all skill levels. With adjustable-weight golf clubs, you can change the weight of the drivers to help correct flaws in the swing and adjust the angle or trajectory from which the ball leaves the club face. Changing the weights is a rather simple procedure that can be done at home instead of trekking to the pro shop.

Instructions

    • 1

Decide how you want the driver weight to sit. TaylorMade has an online guide for various combinations depending on if you want to hit with a draw or a fade to the ball's flight. On TaylorMade's website, search for your driver type and then select "Technology." Each driver has a small weight in the toe, the center, and the heel.

    • 2

Examine the weight options. The weights are small and bolt-like and weigh between 1 and 16 grams. They are made of titanium and steel. You have the option of rearranging you existing combination of three weights or buying additional weights. Weights can be bought individually or in a weight kit with six weights.

    • 3

Select the weights and place them within reaching distance of your workspace. If you are rearranging existing weights, have a place available to set a weight as you remove it.

    • 4

Review the current weight arrangement of the driver. Determine which weights will be removed and where the replacement weights will sit or how weights will be rearranged.

    • 5

Insert the weight removal tool into the opening on the backside of the weight to be removed. Turn the tool counterclockwise to loosen the screw inside the weight. The tool should fit precisely in the exiting slot.

    • 6

Slide the weight out after the screw has been loosened sufficiently. If you are rearranging weights, repeat the removal process with the other weights to be adjusted.

    • 7

Wipe the weights clean. Insert the new weight in the slot and then use the tool to secure the weight by turning clockwise.
