1
Stand straight up on a carpeted floor or putting green while wearing your golf spikes. Do not stand barefoot, in sandals or in regular shoes, because this will give you a false measurement.
-
2
Hold the tailor measuring tape against the top of your breast bone and allow the front end of the tape to fall to the floor. This will allow for a true measurement from the bottom of your golf shoes to your chest. To better the results, you should stand in a place that is still and not affected by fans or wind.
-
3
Bend at the waist slightly. This will allow you to relax your back muscles as well as stomach muscles. It also provides a more natural posture when putting on a golf course or driving range.
-
4
Note the measurement from the floor to your breast bone; this is appropriate length of a long putter for your height. While there is no exact scientific measurement procedure used in finding the right measurement for a long putter, this method will most closely match your body and a long putter.
