How to Do a Full Shoulder Turn During the Back Swing
Instructions
-
-
1
Address the ball with even weight distribution on both feet. Don't favor the toes or heels, balance on the balls of your feet.
-
2
Begin turning your hips and shoulders toward your dominant side and allow your arms to follow the motion.
-
3
Shift a 60/40 weight distribution favoring your back foot as you turn your hips and shoulders. The apex of your swing should see your back facing the target.
-
4
Begin turning your hips and shoulders back towards the ball, holding a 90-degree angle in your wrists. This angle will also assist you in making solid contact with the ball.
-
5
Shift your weight back to a 50/50 split as your arms fall towards the ball and turn your shoulders and hips through the ball at impact. The angle in your wrists allows your hips, shoulders and hands to be slightly in front of the ball at impact, creating more force.
-
6
Turn your hips and shoulders through the ball and release the angle in your wrists after you have hit the ball. Let your arms follow through towards your target and turn completely until your belly button is facing the target. The length of your follow through should mirror the length of your back swing.
-
7
Shift your balance to a 60/40 split, favoring your front foot and lift the heel of your back foot off the ground to assist your follow through rotation.
