How to Install an Oakley Visor

Produced by the sunglass and sports apparel company Oakley, the Oakley Visor is a product designed to fit on a hockey helmet. Most leagues require a visor or face guard which covers part or all of the face. The Oakley Visor is a clear, curved piece of shatter proof, high-grade plastic. The visor is also treated to block 100 percent of UV light, and the contour of the lens was designed so that no peripheral vision is lost during play. Installation is straightforward.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the hockey helmet on a towel. The hockey helmet should be resting on a flat surface. Placing the helmet on a towel will keep you from scratching the table surface below.

    • 2

Align the Oakley Visor with the holes on the side of the hockey helmet. The Oakley Visor is designed to fit most helmets. Because many leagues require some type of visor or guard, there is a standard set of holes to affix the visor or guard on each side.

    • 3

Place the top screws in the holes on each side of the helmet. The screws, which are provided by Oakley, fit through the visor into the helmet. Tighten the top screw on each side with your screwdriver.

    • 4

Try the helmet on. You want to make sure the visor is sitting properly on the helmet, that it is affixed equally to each side, and that it is sitting comfortably out in front of the helmet and completely blocking your forehead. If not, remove helmet and adjust the visor up or down accordingly.

Insert and tighten the remaining screws with your screwdriver. There are holes for the bottom screws on each side of the Oakley Visor. Insert and tighten the bottom screws, while firming up the top screws as well. Try the helmet on one last time to make sure you can see properly.
