1
Put on your jock, cup, pants, undershirt and skates before you begin attaching your pads. Putting your skates on before your pads allows a better fit.
-
2
Lay your leg pads out in front of you and kneel into them. Begin by attaching the toe ties and slowly work your way up the straps in the pads. Ensure the lower straps are tighter; they need to be looser the further up the leg you tie to allow you to go down in a butterfly. You may find it easier to sit down and tie the higher straps.
-
3
Pull the chest protector over your head and place your arms through the holes in the sides of the chest protector. Strap your arms into place, ensuring that they are comfortable and secure. Pull your hockey jersey over the top of the chest protector.
-
4
Put on your helmet/mask. Ensure that the face guard is secure in the helmet. If you have access to a throat protector, make sure that it's attached to the mask.
-
5
Put a blocker on your dominant hand and a catching glove onto the other. You are now fully protected.
