Milwaukee Admirals' Salaries

The American Hockey League's Milwaukee Admirals routinely compete for the league's coveted Calder Cup every fall. As a primary source of reserve players for the NHL's Nashville Predators, Admirals players earn various salaries.
  1. Base Salary

    • As set forth by AHL President Dave Andrews, the league average for most AHL players is around $60,000 annually. This number is only the average salary due to the American League's smaller revenues; veteran players with NHL contracts sent to the AHL on conditioning assignments retain their NHL salaries.

    Collective Bargaining Agreement

    • As of 2010, an agreement between the AHL and Professional Hockey Players Association (PHPA) sets the minimum base salary for entry level players at $36,500 for U.S.-based teams and $39,000 for Canadian teams. Players loaned from other leagues like the ECHL or UHL earn $28,000 until they secure an actual contract. There is no maximum amount a player can earn while playing in the AHL.

    Payouts

    • As part of the league's collective bargaining agreement, AHL players receive a per diem during training camp, pre-season and the regular season. The team is responsible for also paying for expenses incurred by the player's families while traveling to away games.
