Mini Hockey Tricks

Bouncing the Ball
-
As mini hockey uses balls instead of pucks, the ability to bounce the ball becomes a possibility, allowing for a whole new world of tricks to be performed. The first step is to become good at bouncing the ball. Much like Tiger Woods is famous for bouncing a golf ball on his golf club over and over again, mini hockey players should practice the trick of lifting the rubber ball onto the hockey stick and repeatedly bouncing it up and down. Once this ball control has been perfected, more tricks can be performed off of it.
Ball Bounce Shot
-
After a mini hockey player is skilled enough to lift the ball up off the ground and bounce it on his stick in any situation, he should work on the trick of bouncing the ball up the air and taking a shot with it as it comes down. Being accurate when hitting the ball after bouncing it on the stick will take some practice. However, if a mini hockey player can get good at doing this, then he will have a dangerous trick in his arsenal when trying to score during a mini hockey game, as he will be able to score from many different levels in the air rather than just hitting the ball off the ground.
Sweep Spin Shot
-
Mini hockey sticks can also be used to pick up a ball or puck and lift it up so that the puck holds against the side of the stick due to centripetal force. By doing this with enough speed and finesse, players can lift the ball or puck up off the ground and spin their bodies, keeping the puck against the side of the stick, so that they can shoot at the goal from the other side of their bodies. This trick should be practiced repeatedly without anyone playing defense or playing against them in goal. When it is mastered, it will make them that much harder to defend in a mini hockey game.
