How to Fix Locked Hockey Pants

All forms of hockey equipment, including hockey pants, are designed to hold up structurally under the physical stress of game play while affording as much player flexibility as possible. Hockey pants contain many pounds of foam padding, making these pants incredibly heavy. Adjustable locking straps found on both the inside and outside of hockey pants secure the weight of hockey pants to a player's body, helping them stay on during play. Easily fix your locked hockey pants to make them tighter or more comfortable once you have found all of these adjustable straps.

Inspect your hockey pants prior to putting them on to find the adjustable straps or other fixtures allowing you to fix the fit of your hockey pants. If possible, reference the user's guide that came with the purchase of your hockey pants, or contact the manufacturer of your pants for more help. Adjustable straps are usually found as either a belt around the waist or straps that are wrapped around a player's thigh.

Put on your hockey pants. If they are too tight, adjust the locking straps to make the fit looser and then put on the pants. While wearing the hockey pants, adjust the locking straps to your preferred tightness. If there are any thigh straps or other adjustable fixtures that you can't reach while wearing the pants, try to estimate how much they need to be tightened or loosened. Take off the hockey pants.

Adjust any locking straps that you could not adjust while wearing the pants. If straps won't adjust, the most common issue is twisted straps that bunch up in the strap's buckle, preventing adjustment. Untwist the strap by twisting it near the buckle so that the strap can lie flat and be easily adjusted.

Put the hockey pants back on. If the fit of your hockey pants is not to your liking, take them back off and repeat the previous step. Continue to do this until you achieve the correct fit.
