Suzuki 125 Specifications

Suzuki manufactures several different sizes and types of motorcycles. The smallest size that is a 124-cubic-centimeter dirt bike. Available in two trim models, the DR-Z125L and the DR-Z125, this small dirt bike is meant for young riders. As of 2010, the models are nearly identical except for a few size and braking system variations.
  1. Engine

    • The DR-Z125 and DR-Z125L both use a 124-cubic-centimeter, four-stroke, air-cooled engine. The engine is tied to a five-speed constant mesh transmission with a bore stroke of 57 mm by 48.8 mm. Ignition relies on a kick-start system that uses a electronic capacitive discharge ignition, or CDI. Compression ratio is set at 9.5:1, and lubrication is done by a wet sump system.

    Chassis

    • The main difference in the DR-Z125 and DR-Z125L is size. The DR-Z125L rides as a slightly larger bike owing to a larger wheel size. Tire size on the DR-Z125 is 17 inches in the front and 14 inches on the back, while the DR-Z125L has 19 tires on the front and 16 inch tires on the back. The DR-Z125 is 72.2 inches long, 30.3 inches wide and 30.5 inches high at the seat, which gives a ground clearance of 10.2 inches.

      The DR-Z125L is 74.2 inches long, 30.3 inches wide and 31.7 inches high at the seat, which creates a ground clearance of 11.4 inches. The extra wheel size also allows for an increase in weight. The DR-Z125 comes in at 194 lbs., and the DR-Z125L weighs 196 lbs.

    Systems

    • The braking systems on the DR-Z125 and the DR-Z125L are the only other change between the two models. The DR-Z125 has drum brakes on the front and rear, while the DR-Z125 uses a disc brake on the front and a drum brake on the rear. Fuel tanks are identical at 1.1 gallons. The suspension systems are made of link-type coil springs in the rear and telescopic coil springs in the front. Both are oil-damped. The DR-Z125 and DR-Z125L also come with a six-month limited warranty.
