Helmets
-
Youth dirt bike helmets, which come in a variety of styles, are lightweight yet durable enough to offer protection against head injuries. Youth helmets are one of the most important pieces of safety equipment for kids. The helmets are constructed of poly alloy material, making them light enough for kids to wear on long rides. Most youth helmets provide points of ventilation with vents on the chin, forehead, side and rear to keep the rider cool. Some helmets feature a youth liner system that allows kids to adjust the size of their helmets for a better and more secure fit. Some of the widely known manufactures include Fox Racing, O'Neal Racing, AFX and Thor Motocross.
Roost Deflectors
-
Youth roost deflectors offer full-coverage chest protection. Often made of lightweight plastic material with minimal restriction, roost deflectors provide air-flow to the upper body in order to keep kids cool during long rides. Some manufactures include padding, mesh shoulder lining or Bio foam edges for comfort. Roost deflectors also feature back and spine protection for added safety, as well as strap adjusters that allow a custom fit.
Jerseys
-
Most youth jerseys are constructed of a moisture-wicking material that helps keep kids cool during summer months. Many manufacturers, including FOX Racing, THOR, O'Neal and Alpine Stars, design youth jerseys. Most high-performing jerseys offer moisture-wicking polyester that helps keep the rider as dry as possible. Youth jerseys are designed with elbow padding for added comfort and appealing graphics. Some of the other features include snug fits around the collar and wrists to help keep dirt out without feeling constricted.
Pants and Shorts
-
Premium youth dirt bike pants and shorts, made of lightweight and durable nylon and/or polyester material, feature a design that allows movement without restricting the rider. Most youth dirt bike pants include Spandex panels for ange of motion and pre-curve construction for a better and more comfortable feel. Some pants offer water-resistant or water-repellent material. In addition, some designers provide young riders with the option of wearing full-length pants that convert into shorts simply by unzipping the material at the knees.
Boots
-
Kids dirt bike boots help minimize injuries to the leg and foot in case of an accident. Youth boots, designed to be proportional in height, feature durable leather construction, heel support, buckle closure systems and padding for extra comfort. Some youth boots provide impact shin guards for extra protection. When purchasing boots, some important considerations include the right type and size. An improper fit may not provide the appropriate support to vulnerable areas such as the ankle. Costs for boots depends upon the manufacturer but may range anywhere from $80 to $600.
