As any athlete can tell you, sweating causes odor. Not only will you stink, but so will your gloves and equipment. Though making your gloves smell good is a tough task, you can get rid of a lot of the odor with a few household items.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the gloves from your equipment bag as soon as you get home from your game or practice. Do not give the gloves time to soak in the sweat.

    • 2

Wash the gloves in a washing machine on a cold water, delicate items setting. This will ensure that neither heat nor excessive force will damage the gloves or break the foam inside them. In lieu of a washing machine, you can hand wash them with a mild dish soap and cold water.

    • 3

Allow the gloves to drip dry for at least 48 hours. Do not use heat, which will dry out the leather on the inside of the gloves and cause cracking or tearing.

    • 4

Spray with a household aerosol cleaner or odor remover like Lysol, Febreeze or their generic equivalents to remove any lingering odors. Use these products sparingly; over usage may damage the gloves.

    • 5

Stick a dryer sheet inside each of the gloves and store the gloves in a cool, dry place until you next need them.
