How to Make Your Mesh on a Lacrosse Stick Softer

Lacrosse is considered to be the oldest sport that originated in North America, having originally been played by Native Americans, who called it baggataway. It was French missionaries in what is now Canada that gave it the name lacrosse. One of the most important pieces of equipment in the game of lacrosse is the stick, which has a mesh pocket with which to catch and throw a ball. Softening up stick mesh, much like softening up a baseball glove, is important for getting a good feel for your stick.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill a bucket with hot water. The bucket should be big enough that the entire lacrosse head can be immersed.

    • 2

Add roughly 1 cup of hair conditioner to the hot water.

    • 3

Immerse the lacrosse stick head in the hot water and leave it there for an hour. After an hour is up, take it out and test it. If you wish it to be softer, put it back in for another hour. Continue doing this until it is as soft as desired.

    • 4

Place the mesh under cold, running water after it has reached your desired level of softness. Do this until all of the hair conditioner has been removed.

    • 5

      Let the mesh air dry.
