How to Fix Slippery Lacrosse Balls
When you buy new lacrosse balls, they feel quite different than ones that are used in play. New balls are slick and feel as if they have been coated in grease. To play with these balls correctly, they need to be scuffed so they will react like balls do in a game. Scuffed balls will be easier to catch in the mesh of the lacrosse stick and easier to pick up off the ground.
Things You'll Need
- 220-grit sandpaper
- Car rubbing compound
- Washcloth
Instructions

1
Rub the 220-grit sandpaper over the ball. Do not miss any spots. This gives the ball more grip.
-
2
Apply some car rubbing compound to a washcloth. Wipe the ball down with the washcloth. This will give the ball added grip.
-
3
Slide the ball across a cement sidewalk. This will also soften the ball by removing the thin, plastic-like coat on new balls.
