How to Rough Up Lacrosse Balls

Lacrosse has been played in North America for hundreds of years; the sport we know today was adapted from a game played by Native American warriors to improve their strength and endurance. Lacrosse balls are hard and small, and they can get dirty and worn down over time. You can rough up the balls to give them back some grip so they're easier to pick up with your lacrosse stick.

Instructions

    • 1

Rub the lacrosse balls down with 220-grit sandpaper. Rotate the balls in your hand as you scuff them. Scuffing them with sandpaper helps give them more grip and texture.

    • 2

Apply car rubbing compound to a rag and work it into the surface of the lacrosse balls. Car rubbing compounds are slightly abrasive and will improve the gripping abilities of the ball.

    • 3

Rub the balls against an abrasive surface, such as a sidewalk. This will help get rid of scratches and discoloration on the ball's surface.
