How to Do a Full Roundoff Back Handspring

A full roundoff back handspring is a difficult gymnastics and cheer-leading trick to master, but if you practice diligently and stay committed, you'll be wowing your family, friends and fans. However, this trick can be quite dangerous if you fall out of your landings, so make sure the floor you're practicing on is padded and that you have an open space that is at least 50 feet long.

Instructions

    • 1

Run two quick strides and don't slow down as you begin the roundoff.

    • 2

Jump off from the opposite foot you began running with, stretch your arms straight up and throw your body forward.

    • 3

Place your hands on the floor with fingers outstretched as you tumble forward. Your hands should hit the mat one in front of the other.

    • 4

Twist your lower body and rotate your legs over your head. Make sure your feet are close together as they hit the mat. Keep your back straight, your arms straight up in the air and bend your knees so that you're almost in a sitting position.

    • 5

Spring off from your feet, arch your back and throw your hands behind you.

    • 6

Push your body up and over into a flip; the momentum from your roundoff will help you do this.

    • 7

Reach for the ground with your hands, push off them and flip your legs so that you land upright with your feet together, your back straight or slightly arched and your arms raised above you.
