1
Determine your budget. You can sometimes find good quality racquetball racquets at a thrift store or a second hand sporting good store. Sporting good stores sell new high end racquets in a wide range of prices. Generally, the more expensive racquetball racquets provide higher quality components like grommets, strings and grips.

Test out your top choices. There are several ways you can do this. Your first option is to use a friend's racquet. Another way is to buy a few racquets and return the ones you don't like. You need to find out the stores return policy before attempting to test racquets this way.

3
Join the Demo program from Racquet World. This program allows you to test two racquetball racquets of your choice for seven days. Included in the cost of the program is 2 day UPS shipping and return shipping label. If you decide to buy a racquetball racquet from Racquet World within 30 days of your demo, the store credits part of your demo program fee toward the purchase.

4
Find the right weight. Racquetball racquets are measured by grams. Younger racquetball players should use a lower weight racquet. For older players, more weight is needed to compensate for slower swings.
-
5
Look at grip options. The smaller the grip, the more range of motion you have in your wrist. If you wear a glove that is medium or smaller, you want a grip of 3 5/8 or SS. You also have the option of upgrading the grip on your racquet by adding a rubber grip. This slightly enlarges the grip, but keeps the racquet from spinning in your hand.
-
6
Evaluate the racquets. Check the balance, vibration, accuracy and control of the sweet spot. The sweet spot is the perfect place on the racquet where all tension in the head of the racquet is pulled together to add extra zip to the ball. This spot varies based on the racquet combined with the swing.

7
Purchase your racquet. You can buy your racquet from Racquet world and apply the credit from the demo program. Or you can buy the racquet from your local sporting good store. Once you know the exact racquet you want, you can also check online auctions.
