Dallas Rugby Clubs

The Dallas metropolitan area is home to more than a dozen rugby clubs, including many longstanding, championship teams. Clubs are made up of players at a variety of skills levels and include men’s and women’s teams. Clubs compete under the Texas Rugby Union and competitive team members are registered with USA Rugby.
  1. Dallas Harlequins Rugby Football Club

    • The Dallas Harlequins RFC is one of the oldest rugby clubs in the Dallas area. Founded in 1971, the men’s club is named after the Harlequin Football Club in London, England and is officially affiliated with the English team. Shortly after its inception, it defeated a club from the Bahamas during a competition in 1972, becoming the first Texas club to beat a foreign team. It is a competing member of several rugby unions, including the Texas Northern Counties Rugby Football Union and the Texas Rugby Union. The club is one of the most successful in the United States. It has won 20 Texas Rugby Football Union Championships and six Western Rugby Football Union Championships and one national championship. The club hosts teams from other countries, including South Africa, Australia, Argentina, England and Wales. Members come from a variety of professional backgrounds and are from 18 years old to over 40. The team trains twice a week at the city’s Glencoe Park.

    Dallas Diablos Rugby Football Club

    • The Dallas Diablos RFC formed to offer rugby playing opportunities to a diverse population of players. The club recruits male and female players and is a member of the International Gay Rugby Association and Board (IGRAB). Founded in 2002, the club is also a competing member of the Texas Rugby Union. There are two sides, one for men and the other for women. There are two levels of players in the club: active and competing. Competing members are registered with USA Rugby. Financial assistance is available for players who cannot afford the club’s dues. The club practices at the city’s Griggs Park twice a week and hosts matches at Lake Highlands Park.

    Dallas Athletic Rugby Club

    • The Dallas Athletic Rugby Club formed from a merger of the Dallas Blues and the Dallas Our Gang in the late 1990s. The men’s club has adult players of all age groups and competes as a member of the Texas Rugby Union. In 2010, the team competed at the national level and finished in the top 12 of Division III USA Rugby clubs. The club practices twice a week at Holford Park in the northern suburb of Garland and competes at Lake Highlands Park. DARC hosts the annual Mudfish 7s at Lake Highlands.
