How to Align Internal Ski Boot Boards

Boot boards are placed inside ski boots to help create a foundation for each ski's footbed. Boot boards help retain the shape and fit of your boots. Corrective fits can adjust ramp angle and canting. Boot boards are removable, allowing you to change sizes if they fit incorrectly. Aligning your boot boards make for better fit and ski performance.

Instructions

Visit a local ski shop and seek boot-fitting services. Professional boot fitters can evaluate your stance, foot shape and size. Wearing the correct boot size ensures that your internal boot boards will also fit. A professional boot fitter can make adjustments and canting to your ski boots such as planing the boot soles, modifying internal parts, adding shims under the foot liner and adjusting the boot cuffs.

Stand on a flat surface in your ski boots and feel your foot on the boot board. Adjust so that your toes are touching the front part of the board.

    • 3

Balance your fore-aft stance on skis and adjust the ramp angle. Use plastic inserts under the binding's toe or heel and allow for even pressure and contact around the boot board. If you feel pain, move the boot board either forward or backward to relieve pressure. Make sure that the fit is snug.

Remove material from the top surface of your boot board if it is too loose. If there are no removable or adjustable tongues, bring the boot to a ski or sports shop technician for resizing.
