How do I Reheat Scarpa T2 Thermo-Moldable Ski Boot Liners?

Scarpa T2s are one of the benchmark telemark boots that revolutionized telemark skiing, which is skiing with the heel free. The skier turns by dropping the uphill knee to the trailing ski while sliding the downhill knee forward. The Scarpa T2 evolved from the Terminator boot, the original all-plastic telemark boot. Modern T2s are made with eco-friendly plastics and balance performance with light weight. The T2s come with thermo-moldable liner boots that can be heat molded, either by a boot-fitter or by the skier at home, up to six times. This enables you to customize the fit and makes for more precise, and comfortable, skiing.

Instructions

    • 1

Preheat the oven to 275 degrees F on the convection setting. Pull the boots out of the liner and place them in the oven on a cookie sheet and allow them to cook for 12 minutes.

    • 2

Prepare your foot by placing the toe cap over your toes, then placing your foot on the footbed, then pulling the ski sock over the toe cap and footbed. This is to keep your foot spaced well while the boot is molded so it doesn't collapse.

    • 3

Remove the liners from the oven and slide your foot into them.

    • 4

Pull the plastic bag over the liner and spray a little of the olive oil spray on it, then slide your foot into the T2 shell.

    • 5

Buckle the boots so that your foot feels snug, but not constricted or tight. If you over buckle the boots, the fit will be too loose after the liner cools.

    • 6

Kick your heel against the floor, then place a small piece of wood under the toe of your boot to keep the heel in the rear of the boot. Stand in a neutral position for 10 to 15 minutes while the liner cools.

    • 7

Remove your foot from the liner and remove the toe cap. Put the footbed in the liner and your ski sock back on, then slide your foot into the liner and buckle the boots to check the fit. If it feels constricted, or there appear to be irregularities in the liner boot, such as ridges, remold the liners.
