How to Make a Fog Solution for Goggles

Whether you are a competitive downhill skier or a cross-country skier who enjoys the occasional trail, there is nothing more frustrating than trying to ski in flurries with goggles that continually fog up. Commercial anti-fog solutions are available, but they are so expensive that many skiing enthusiasts find themselves limiting themselves to a few uses per day, and even then, a bottle small enough to fit in your ski coat pocket will probably run out before the end of a weeklong ski trip. Try making this anti-fog solution at home for a fraction of the cost.

Things You'll Need

  • 1/2 qt. water
  • Plastic container with lid
  • 1/8 tsp. liquid dish soap
  • 1/2 oz. sudsy ammonia (available in the cleaning-supplies section of your local grocery store)
  • 2 oz. rubbing alcohol
  • Small spray bottle
  • Polishing cloth

Pour the water into a plastic container. Add the liquid dish soap, sudsy ammonia and rubbing alcohol.

    • 2

Secure the lid on the plastic container tightly and shake well to combine the ingredients.

    • 3

Fill a spray bottle small enough to fit into your ski jacket pocket with your homemade anti-fog solution.

    • 4

Put a polishing cloth in your pocket for wiping your goggles after applying the anti-fog solution.

    • 5

Replace the cover on your anti-fog solution and take it with you on ski trips to refill your spray bottle as needed.
