How to Repair Scratches on Top of a Snowboard

Small scratches on your snowboard aren't going to slow you down, but they do take away from the aesthetics of the board. Mud and dirt can get caught in the cracks and make your board look very unattractive. While it is best to take your snowboard to a repair shop, you can fill in the cracks yourself at home with a little P-Tex. Since the cracks are on the top of your board, not the base, you want to use clear P-Tex so you don't spoil your board's design. P-Tex is a polyethylene material used to repair snowboards and skis that can be purchased for around $3.

Instructions

    • 1

Hose your board down to remove any dried mud that may be lodged in the cracks.

    • 2

Dry off the board with a towel.

    • 3

Ignite your lighter and hold the P-Tex stick in the flame until it starts to drip. Be careful not to burn yourself, as the P-Tex will be very hot.

    • 4

Drip the P-Tex into each scratch.

    • 5

Allow the P-Tex to dry for 30 minutes.

    • 6

Shave off the excess P-Tex with a metal scraper until it is flush with your board. Be very careful to do this lightly so you don't scratch your board. Use as little pressure as possible.
