1
Locate an area on a hill that begins as a gentle slope and transitions into a steep drop-off. The slope leading up to the jump will give you speed to launch into the air, and the steep drop-off will match your angle as your board lands on the snow. Make sure this area is clear of trees, rocks or any other obstacles that can interfere with your path before or after the jump.

2
Gather a large pile of snow with a shovel and place it immediately before the steep drop on the hill. Gather as much snow as you can and pile it high. The pile will decrease in size once the snow is packed down.
-
3
Pack the snow as tightly as possible. Use the flat bottom of the shovel and hit the surface of the snow. Your snowboard can be used as a support to hold you up on the higher parts of the jump. Stick the side of your board into the snow and lean your feet against it for leverage.
-
4
Even out the surface of the snow. Grab your snowboard by the bindings and use the bottom and edge of your snowboard to flatten and shave the snow until it is smooth and even.
